| I came across the intresting article few days ago about Korean Inter-Reglion Group (composed of Catholic Sisters, Buddhism Female Monks, Anglican Church Sisters) visiting Dalai Lama at India. This group of people were on pilgrimage visiting Baranashi - The first site when Buddha preached after his englihtment, Jerusalem and many other holy-sites. As they were visiting Dalai Lama, he greeted these people with great joy and praised their effort on the inter-reglion reconciliation.
Reglions in the world commonly emphasize the concept of love, and harmony with other people. However, it is true that many disputes (war, massacre, diaspora) in human history were caused by the conflict between reglions and hostile attitue toward others. As Dalai Lama greeted these people, he emphasized that
keeping faith means to protect and enrich one's reglion and follow the orthodox-doctrine of church/temple. Respect is also the most crucial factor to keep this society harmonious and peaceful. In the personal point of view, keeping the faith is more important than anything else, but in the social point of view, respect others is more important than anything else. We all have two eyes, tongue, mouth and same number of teeth. But Korean ppl love Kimchi but while Japanese ppl love Natto despite f having same number of teeth, tounge and mount. Likewise, although we are same human being, we all have different idea and pursue the different value - and we need to admit this.
We all learned the numerous war - like Crusade in the Europe, thirty years war in 17th Germany - and recently witness Muslim's anger on Danish newspaper cartoon about prophet Mahomet. In this type of conflict, they all insist that they are doing "RIGHT" thing and keeping their faith, but is that what Jesus/Mahomet/Buddha taught us to be???? In the church, we finish the mass/worship citing "we will spread the good news to others". The church already teach us the same idea on Dalai Lama's quote, but why do we forget this so easily and cause the conflict?
ps) Kimchi is now one of the world-wide favorite quote...yay~ |
